Carrie Rodriguez & Luke Jacobs
Carrie Rodriguez came to attention a decade ago performing with singer-songwriter Chip Taylor. The Texas-born classically trained violinist/singer-songwriter delivers everything from dissonant rock fiddle solos to heartfelt ballads. Rodriguez has performed, recorded, or collaborated with many of her heroes including Lucinda Williams, John Prine, Bill Frisell, Mark O'Connor, Los Lobos, Patty Griffin, Alejandro Escovedo, Buddy Miller, and others.
Jacobs is a self taught multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from a small iron mining town in northern Minnesota. An English Lit major, he tried everything from running a window cleaning business to teaching elementary school before realizing that music is where his best contributions lie. He was also a founding member of the popular Minneapolis-based alt country band, Romantica, which is where Carrie first heard him perform. Jacobs’ laid back vocals, blue-collar songs, and soulful pedal steel playing have proven to be the perfect compliment to Carrie’s passion and intensity.
Rodriguez & Jacobs are a duo that is conversant in the language of musical surprise, complimenting each other in the most unexpected and satisfying ways.
