Teach SmART

Carnegie Hall and Greenbrier County Schools are members of the prestigious John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts: Partners in Education program. This partnership enables Carnegie Hall and Greenbrier County Schools to collaborate on various arts and education endeavors. Together, we have made a commitment to improve artistic literacy of our students by providing professional development opportunities in the arts for educators. This series is titled Teach SmART. These participatory workshops for teachers are designed to enhance all areas of curriculum and support West Virginia Content Standards and Objectives.

Teach SmART workshops inspire fresh ideas for teaching, provide techniques that complement different styles of learning, and offer opportunities for personal satisfaction and growth. Staff development credit is available for workshop participants, and continuing education units are provided through NRCTC/BSC.

Teach SmART benefits everyone wishing to strengthen their teaching skills. Teachers, principals, tutors, parents, artists and community members are invited to participate in a Teach SmART workshop.

Greenbrier County teachers receive priority registration for workshops.

The series is underwritten by Greenbrier County Schools.

Sharing knowledge and encouraging art is just part of musical mission of TFIA. In their song writing workshop for teachers they illustrate how art and music come from the fabric of everyday life. Their willingness to make fun of our most annoying and sometimes disgusting habits in one song then touch our hearts with tender passionate images of family life in the next is what makes the connection between Trout Fishing in America and their audience so real. No two workshops are ever the same!
