Iris DeMent May 14, 2010 | 7:30pm Iris DeMent has been a leading voice in folk for the past decade. Her distinctive vocal style draws from influences from Loretta Lynn to Joni Mitchell, and her songs resonate with insightful, well-crafted lyrics about religion, love and social issues. As a teenager DeMent was exposed to the music that would change her life--folk and country. Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Joni Mitchell and Loretta Lynn. DeMent has collaborated with John Prine, Emmylou Harris, Merle Haggard and more.
