Special Events

Carnegie Hall is proud to bring the following special events to the community.

The U.S. Army Blues
February 10, 2009 | 7:30pm FREE

In keeping with the tradition of America’s only original art form, jazz, the Army Blues strives to preserve the music of such big band legends as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman, and Stan Kenton. Additionally, many members are accomplished composers and arrangers who contribute their talents by writing for the ensemble—often catering to the musical strengths of the individual band members—much in the style of legendary big band arrangers.

An Evening with Barbara Nissman to benefit Carnegie Hall and Greenbrier Valley Theater.
April 25, 2009 | 7:30pm

Well known for her definitive recordings of the complete piano music (solo & chamber) of Alberto Ginastera, and the complete piano sonatas of Sergei Prokofiev, Barbara Nissman’s roots remain within the nineteenth century. Hailed by a New York critic as "one of the last pianists in the grand Romantic tradition of Liszt, Rachmaninoff, and Rubinstein."
